Would you do this if Jesus was watching?

“I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” (Gênesis 17.1).

Be perfect? How can anyone be perfect? Jesus spoke in Matthew 5:48: " Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." How can God expect anyone to be perfect? The human being is so flawed, corrupt and inclined towards evil. How can we be perfect? It's hard to understand this literally. Why would God ask this? When He spoke to Abraham, “I am Almighty God, walk before Me and be blameless,” He meant that one who is consciously in His Presence will be perfect.

When you were a child, you probably behaved better when your parents were home. In their absence, you would do certain things and hoped they wouldn't find out. Child thing. The presence of parents changes the behavior of the children, just as the presence of the boss changes the behavior of the employee, and the presence of the wife changes the behavior of the husband.

When God said to Abraham: “I am Almighty God, walk before Me and be blameless”, He wanted Abraham to live with this awareness: God is here, He is the witness of everything I am doing and thinking. My fear is my respect for Him. So, we must live our life, with the constant awareness of the Presence of God.

You wouldn't do certain things if you were constantly aware that God is with you. You wouldn't lie, you wouldn't watch pornography, etc. If Jesus was by your side while you were watching pornography, would you still watch it? You wouldn't do wrong things if you walk in His Presence.

If you want to have a different life, a job, a career, a perfect life, face it this way, with this awareness that God is by your side and that He knows all things. Before giving free rein to your imagination, question if what you want to do pleases Him. You can no longer use that excuse that no one is perfect, because God thinks differently.
