UBB in Davao

When someone decides to change and live differently, they become truly free by choosing the truth and leaving their wrongdoings.

The Universal Church in Davao has been spreading the Good News not only to the people in the community, but also to those who are behind bars and feel despised by many. This is the work done by the UBB group every Monday at San Pedro Police Station in Davao City which aims to bring hope and spiritual support to the prisoners.

They understood the importance of repentance, which is a decision to abandon their sins and start to live according to the will of God.

As it is written in Acts 2:38, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Salvation is not only for those who live outside the prison cell. Salvation is given by God to those who believe in Him and repent, even if they are despised by the world.

Thus, on that day, 14 prisoners decided to accept God into their lives, chose to repent, and were baptized in water.

“I felt something different. I now have peace within me after making the decision to repent and be baptized. I will be transferred to another prison, but I have the assurance that things will not be the same because I am now renewed and changed by God.” shared a newly baptized prisoner.

The mission of saving souls is not limited by the circumstances or the place; even those who are in prison have the right to be saved but this mission will not be possible without the volunteers.

“When I heard the message about the Gift of the Lord, I immediately thought of the Holy Spirit. I realized that God wants to give us this gift because He loves us. He will not withhold it if we submit and surrender ourselves to Him. I have witnessed many people decide to repent, just as I did on the day I chose to be baptized. I realized that it is not only outside the prison cell where souls can be saved, but even inside. I am happy because many have come to understand this truth. Many have made the decision. Thank God,” shared Johny Gil Panungcat, a UBB group volunteer.

Salvation is not only received by those who live outside the cell, salvation is given by God to those who believe in Him and repent.

Hence, this work plays an important role in the lives of the prisoners who were lost, afflicted and despised.
