Sunday of the Unanswered Requests
Why do some requests that we make seem to take too long to be answered, or it even appears that God hasn’t answered or heard them? Every prayer request, without a doubt, is answered by God and there are three ways for Him to answer.
Before Jesus went to the cross, He went to Gethsemane, the oil press. Until today, there is no other way to extract the oil from the olives but to use pressure. Jesus was separated from God so that He could come to the cross as the Lamb of God carrying our sins, curses and punishment, and on the cross He gave His life for you and me.
On the cross, He sacrificed His body. In Gethsemane, He sacrificed His will which was incomparably much harder and difficult. And that is the hardest thing for a human being to do: to let go of our own will.
The soul of Jesus began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed because He came to a moment that He would make a choice: To do His will and forget about God, or to do God’s will and deny His own will. (Matthew 26:37)
He was free to choose, just like us. We are free to make our own choices—free to choose to obey the Word of God or not. And most of the time, we forget about the Word of God and do what we want; that’s why problems come. The world is the way it is because human beings refuse to accept the Word of God as their principal source of guidance and inspiration.
People blindly follow celebrities, YouTube influencers, personalities, and books from authors they don’t even know, and reject the Word of God. This is the reason why there is so much suffering in the world.
Moreover, the hardest prayer Jesus ever made was praying to God “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” – Matthew 26:39. He asked God if it was possible to avoid the cross, and if there was any other way.
Jesus was sincere and was under pressure. All the weight of the sins of humanity, past, present and future, was upon the Lord Jesus. He was the Lamb of God, perfect, without sin, and sacrificed for us. So that, we, who may believe in Him, surrender our soul to Him, and live by His Word may find in Him peace, new life and above all salvation.
We should not try to carry the burdens of our family upon our shoulders because the reality is that we cannot even carry the weight of our own burdens.
In conclusion, the reason why many prayers are not answered is because we ask, but we want it to be done according to our own will, not according to the will of God. Our will is against us, and most of the time what we want is not good for us.

We need to surrender our will to God. Make our requests known to Him in prayer, but then trust Him, for He knows better.
Remember, the answer to our prayers may sometimes be yes right away, yes but not now, or no.
God’s answer to Jesus was “NO.” There was no other way to save humanity.
We must be ready to receive the answer. His “NO” saves us from more problems and suffering.
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” – John 15:7
We abide in Jesus when we voluntarily surrender our will to Him and let the will of God happen in our life. The Word of God abides in us when we put it into practice in our lives.
