VYG Hangout – WEH, DI NGA?

Words: Power to Build or Break

Every Sunday at 2 PM, the Victory Youth Group (VYG) gathers—not just to hang out, but to grow, connect, and be reminded of truths that shape who we are. This week’s message hit close to home: our words matter more than we think. Words are like a double-edged sword—capable of healing hearts or leaving lasting wounds. In today’s digital world, where messages spread in seconds, one careless word or click can travel farther than we ever imagined, often without us realizing the impact it carries.

As it is written in Proverbs 11:13, “A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.” This reminded us that we always have a choice—to spread noise or to offer support, to tear down or to lift others up. The way we speak reflects the kind of person we are becoming.

We also learned that both silence and speech are powerful. Knowing when to speak—and when to stay quiet—is a sign of maturity and wisdom. Not every thought needs to be shared, and not every story needs an audience. Sometimes, the strongest response is restraint, and the wisest move is to seek guidance beyond people.

Instead of turning to gossip, we were encouraged to turn to God—where our words become prayers and our burdens find peace. Speaking to God leads to clarity, healing, and truth, unlike gossip which multiplies harm.

Our tongue may be small, but its impact is immense—like a single match that can either light the way or burn everything in its path. As we ended our gathering, we were reminded to carry this message with us: to use our words not to hurt, but to help, build, and bring life.

So the question remains for each one of us—how will we use our words?
