To which kingdom do you belong?

The kingdom of this world is the world we were born into. You did not choose to come into this world, nor did you choose the family you were born into. But you can choose where your soul lives forever. The body grows old and eventually dies, the heart will stop beating, and brain function will cease, but the soul is eternal.

The kingdom of this world is a kingdom of injustices, lies, deceit, dishonesty where everybody struggles and fights to do what they want. People choose to follow their own will regardless of the consequences or what might happen to them. You can be free to do what you want, but freedom comes with responsibility, and your choices will bring consequences.

The idea of following your heart and doing whatever you want comes from evil—it’s a deceitful feeling of freedom. If you follow your heart you will get it wrong, because our heart is inclined to do what is wrong.

You will not always be able to do everything right, from time to time, you will make mistakes and resist the will of God, and that’s going to make you suffer. But you can learn how to reduce the chances of making wrong choices and committing mistakes.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:31-33

The Kingdom of God is the presence of God living in us, guiding us, teaching us and showing us the way without controlling our choices and decisions. When the kingdom of God lives in us through the Holy Spirit, He guides us to the righteous path in life.

There are people who hear about water baptism and surrendering their lives to Jesus, but hesitate because they are not yet ready to let go of the things of this world and their freedom to have eternal life in heaven.

There are people who have accepted Jesus as their Savior, been baptized in water, and faithfully tithed, yet still fall into sin and are filled with worries and anxiety because they don’t have the Spirit of God.

But there are people who overcome because they prioritized the Kingdom of God and received the Holy Spirit.

Our sins condemn us to live eternally in hell, our debt is too great and we have no way of saving ourselves. But Jesus came, died on the cross so that we all have a chance of salvation. He went to the Kingdom of Heaven to prepare the place where those who are saved will be with Him.

Jesus will come back someday, we don’t know the day and the hour, but He will. The destination of your soul is decided in this life, not after death.
