How to have true peace?

Everybody wants peace. Countries even go to war in the hope of achieving peace. But true peace only comes from God.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” — Colossians 3:15
A person who does not have peace lives in torment—tormented by their past, their sins, their conscience, and by what they have done to others or what others have done to them.
People do not have peace because they do not have the Spirit of God within them. Without God, there is room for evil spirits to enter and torment their lives with resentment, grudges, hatred, rejection, and feelings of abandonment.
But some people do not have peace because they reject Jesus, the Author of Peace.
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33
Do not expect the world to give you peace, because you will not find true peace in this world. Peace is not the absence of problems. As long as we live, we will face problems.
When you have the Holy Spirit, you can have inner peace regardless of what is happening around you. This peace stays within you wherever you go, and you can also share it with others.
What must a person do to have this peace?
Instead of filling your heart with resentment and grudges, you must learn to forgive. When you forgive others, Jesus will also forgive you. You may not have done what others did, but we are all sinners who need forgiveness.
Only Jesus can forgive our sins, but we must first do our part by confessing our sins to Him and turning away from them. Once this step is taken, one of the first signs that a person has been forgiven by God is peace.
There may be situations that make you upset, angry, or sad, but when you have the Holy Spirit, those feelings will not control you. The sadness and anger will pass, but the peace of God will remain.
When you have the Holy Spirit, His peace remains with you and never leaves you.
