Sunday of Good Cheer

The start of a new year is usually accompanied by expectations, dreams, and goals. However, after the holidays are over, you realize that everything remains the same. The same problems, the same life —only the page of the calendar has changed. And then feelings of tiredness, frustration and discouragement arise.

God told Joshua to be strong and be of good courage (Joshua 1:6–7), David instructed Solomon to be of good courage (1 Chronicles 28:20), and Hezekiah encouraged the people to be courageous as well (2 Chronicles 32:7).

Even Jesus reassured His disciples, saying, “…be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). He knew they would face trials, persecution, and uncertainty after His departure. His words were not a promise of an easy life, but a reminder that through Him, they could have peace and courage even when the world seemed against them.

To be of good courage is to keep hope, remain confident, and stay in good cheer.

If you feel discouraged to keep going, remember that in the face of struggle, no one wins alone. Discouragement weakens, but faith strengthens.

Therefore, join us this coming Sunday, January 11 at 10am for the “Sunday of Good Cheer”. It is a special day for those who feel weak, demotivated, or unable to see changes in this new year.

We will also have the Lord’s Supper, an opportunity to seek renewal, revival and strength from God, who is the source of life.
