The poison that destroys the soul

When someone hurts you, you may carry hatred and resentment within you to the point that you even wish to kill that person. But the truth is, it is this hatred that is killing you. Resentment transforms you into a bitter person; it steals your joy, your peace, and your future.
Therefore, here’s the reason why you need to forgive:
When you forgive, you are not primarily benefiting the person who wronged you—you are benefiting yourself. When you refuse to forgive, you are not punishing the one who hurt you; you are punishing yourself.
Resentment destroys the soul. If it is not healed, it will throw your soul in hell. Even if you are the victim, allowing anger to take root can do even greater damage than what was done to you in the past.
“Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you— the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.” Joel 2:23
Repentance is like the former rain that prepares that soil, and the latter rain represents the Holy Spirit. You will not receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit if you refuse to forgive.
You need to let go of the past. If you do not let go of your past, you will never fully embrace your present, and your future will be compromised.
Your heart may resist forgiving, but your mind knows that forgiveness is the path that brings true peace.
God is offering you something far greater than a blessing—a life filled with joy. And it begins with forgiveness, which leads to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
