50 Days of Anointing in Preparation to the Sunday of Pentecost

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4

The Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles 50 days after the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, an event known as the Day of Pentecost.

In the same way, we are preparing ourselves each day during the 50 days leading up to the Day of Pentecost, which falls on May 24. Every morning, before leaving home, we will anoint our head with the Blessed Oil, presenting to God our request for the fulfillment of God’s promise — the Holy Spirit.

This is a significant purpose for those who want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be part of the Kingdom of God, as well as for those who desire to renew their communion with God.

This purpose is a journey of perseverance, faith and decision. Those who persevere will receive the fulfillment of the Promise of God.

Why do we need to have the Holy Spirit?

Having God by our side is different from having Him living inside of us. The Holy Spirit brings us true peace (Romans 15:13), eliminates fear (2 Timothy 1:7), strengthens our faith (Ephesians 3:16), guides us (John 16:13), transforms us (Galatians 5:22-23), and helps us to obey the will of God (Acts 1:8). Most importantly, the Holy Spirit is the seal inside of us that confirms that we are children of God (Romans 8:16) and have the right to inherit eternal life, which is the salvation of our soul (Ephesians 1:13-14).
