ABOUT

What You Need to Know about Halloween

Every year on October 31, people across the world dress up in costumes, carve pumpkins, watch horror movies, and enjoy trick-or-treating—all part of getting into the Halloween spirit. But have you ever wondered where these traditions really began?

Halloween’s roots stretch back centuries, long before it had its current name. The origins lie in ancient pagan festivals in Europe, particularly a Celtic celebration called Samhain. This festival, observed by the Celts and Druids in Ireland and Great Britain as early as the 9th century, marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. As time passed, Christian traditions became woven into these ancient customs.

By the 8th century, November 1 became known as All Saints’ Day or All Hallows’ Day, a time to honor saints and the departed souls. The evening before was called All Hallows’ Eve, which eventually shortened to Halloween. Irish and Scottish immigrants brought these customs to North America in the 19th century, where Halloween gradually evolved into the modern celebration we recognize today.

Because of the name and timing, many assume Halloween has Christian origins. This misunderstanding has even led to Halloween-themed events being held in some churches—despite its pagan background. A similar blending of customs occurred with other holidays too, like Christmas, which wasn’t originally part of early Christian practice but later incorporated pagan elements.

Nowadays, Halloween is mostly seen as lighthearted fun. But beneath the surface of costumes and candy lies a spiritual history that many overlook. Some believe that Halloween's playful image hides darker roots. By treating it as harmless entertainment, people may unknowingly expose themselves to deeper spiritual influences.

For those who follow occult practices, October 31 is not just a night of fun—it’s a serious occasion marked by rituals and spiritual activity.

That’s why it’s important to reflect on what Halloween really represents. If you’ve been facing unexplained challenges, bad luck, or feel weighed down spiritually, it could be more than just coincidence.
